Brain Injury Medicine / Neurorehabilitation Fellowship

The Harvard Medical School / Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Fellowship Program in Brain Injury Medicine & Neurorehabilitation is one of three ACGME accredited Brain Injury Medicine (BIM) Fellowship Programs. This 12-month training program offers advanced clinical training in BIM and stroke management, a strong research component, and protected elective time.

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital-Boston is a 132 Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility which accepts approximately 300 TBI and 600 stroke admissions per year on its inpatient teaching services. The educational curriculum for this neurological rehabilitation fellowship will include 10 months of clinical and teaching experience and a 2-month research component. The clinical training will include core   inpatient rotations on the Traumatic Brain Injury and Stroke Rehabilitation services, an outpatient neurologic rehabilitation rotation that includes spasticity and concussion management clinics, as well as stroke and TBI consultation and Neuroradiology rotations at Massachusetts General Hospital, and an elective. The fellow will participate in the team conferences, rounds, and lectures for each rotation. He/she will participate in teaching and supervision of 4th year medical students and Harvard Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation resident physicians.

The research component will include a 3-month part-time course at MGH in the theory and practice of clinical trials. Under the mentorship of SRH/MGH researchers and physicians, the fellow will then plan and author one or more original research papers during the fellowship year during the 2 months of allocated research time.

HMS/SRH is currently accepting applications for our BIM / Neurorehabilitation fellowship program for the academic year. This is a one year fellowship with clinical and academic components. A maximum of 2 fellowship positions will be available.
